Planning a non-park day at Disney World? Whether you need a break from the crowds or just want to soak in the tropical vibes, spending a full day at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is pure paradise—and yes, it’s packed with magic even without stepping foot in a park.
Here’s your perfect Polynesian resort day itinerary, from sunrise to fireworks.
☀️ Morning: Character Breakfast + Scenic Walk
Start your day with a warm “Aloha!” at ʻOhana’s Best Friends Breakfast. This family-style character meal is one of our favorites—Mickey, Pluto, Lilo, and Stitch come around for hugs and photos while you enjoy pineapple-coconut bread, Mickey waffles, and a hearty skillet of eggs, sausage, and potatoes. (Make reservations early—it’s a popular one!)
After breakfast, head outside to walk or jog along the 1-mile scenic pathway that connects the Polynesian to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. It’s a peaceful way to start the day, with views of Seven Seas Lagoon and Magic Kingdom just across the water.
🏖️ Midday: Pool Time + Lunch at Trader Sam’s
Time to grab your swimsuits and dive into some tropical fun at the Lava Pool. Your kids will love the volcano slide and splash area, (don’t forget to check-out the new Moana splash pad) while adults can relax poolside with a tropical drink in hand. The Barefoot Pool Bar offers both alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages . Check the daily activity schedule—Disney cast members often run poolside games and trivia for all ages.
When you’re ready for lunch, pop over to Capt. Cooks for a laid-back bite. This is the Polynesian’s main dinning hall offering fun eats like pulled pork nachos and pan-Asian noodles, plus plenty of kid friendly options like burgers and chicken strips. If you don’t want to leave the pool for lunch Barefoot Pool Bar also offers a small food menu think- wraps, burgers salads and chicken wings.
🌺 Afternoon: Games, Hidden Mickeys & More Pool Fun
After lunch, take a break from the sun and explore the resort’s lesser-known activities. Look for the Hidden Mickey scavenger hunt available at the front desk (ask a cast member!)—it’s a fun way to explore the resort with your kids.
You can also challenge your crew to a game of giant chess, ping pong, or beach volleyball located between the Hawaii and Tahiti buildings (complimentary volleyballs can be checked out from the Seven Seas Marina.
Don’t forget to grab a classic Dole Whip from Pineapple Lanai—it’s a must-have treat on any Disney day.
By 3:00 PM, it’s time to head back to the pool for the daily Lava Pool Party, where music, games, and prizes make for one of the most fun resort activities for kids!
🌅 Evening: Dinner, Dancing, & Nighttime Magic
For dinner, you’ve got two great options right on-site:
- Kona Café (table service): Enjoy pan-Asian dishes, fresh sushi, and Kona coffee-rubbed steak in a casual but classy atmosphere.
- Capt. Cook’s (quick service): Great for families who want to grab something easy—try the pulled pork nachos or Thai coconut meatballs!
After dinner, your evening entertainment depends on the day of the week:
- Video Game Dance Party (7:30 PM, Sun/Tues/Thurs/Sat): Kids can show off their moves at this high-energy party featuring popular dance games.
- Aloha After Dark (7:30 PM, Mon/Wed/Fri): Think chill beach vibes, music, and Hawaiian flair and glow in the dark games -it’s a great way to end your evening.
No matter the day, be sure to grab (another) a tropical drink from the Barefoot Pool Bar and head to the beach. Around 8:50–9:20 PM (check the day’s fireworks schedule), you’ll catch the Electrical Water Pageant gliding by, followed by Magic Kingdom’s fireworks lighting up the sky across the lagoon. It’s one of the most magical views in all of Walt Disney World—and no park ticket required.
🌴 Final Tips for Your Polynesian Resort Day
